The Florida Panthers on Monday signed restricted free-agent goaltender Jacob Markstrom to a new two-year contract. Terms of the deal were not released.

A 2008 second-round pick, Markstrom went 8-14-1 in 23 games last season, with a 3.22 goals-against average and .901 save percentage. It was Markstrom's most extensive NHL time, after seeing action in eight games the previous two seasons.

With Jose Theodore an unrestricted free agent, Markstrom will share the net with veteran Scott Clemmensen this season.

Markstrom, 23, was the second young player to sign with the Panthers on Monday. Earlier, the team signed 2013 first-round pick Aleksander Barkov to a three-year, entry-level contract. The expectation is for the Panthers to be a far younger team this season, with Markstrom and Barkov playing big roles as part of that group.

"We're going to go with our young guys," Tallon said during the team's recent rookie camp. "That's been the plan all along and that's the way we're going to go."

Markstrom: 2 év.

Barkov: 3 év.

"We're going to go young. Going to go with our young guys,'' Dale Tallon said after Weiss left the Panthers after more than a decade and signed a five-year deal worth almost $25 million in Detroit.

"That's been the plan all along and that's the way we're going to go.''

Nagydarab játékosokat miért kell elküldeni, tradelni?

Ezt Én sem értem ráadásul Strachan jó nagy tahó.
AHL-ben számítanak rá, szerencsére a kék vonalunk tele van fiatal tehetségekkel ( Orlov, Schmidt, Schilling, Kundratek ) így komoly szerepet a Hersheynél kaphat.

The Florida Panthers have acquired forward Bobby Butler from the Nashville Predators in exchange for defenseman TJ Brennan.

Butler, 26, split the 2012-13 season between the Predators and New Jersey Devils, combining to total four goals and 11 points in 34 games. Butler previously played three seasons with the Ottawa Senators.

Brennan, 24, split last season between the Panthers and Buffalo Sabres, combining to total three goals and 10 points in 29 games. Brennan was a second-round pick by the Sabres in the 2007 NHL Draft.

Both players can become restricted free agents this summer.
